Chicken Color Standards is one of several efforts to make poultry breed knowledge freely available. This page collects the ones we point people to most: open standards projects like Open Poultry Standards Australia, the national breed associations that publish each country's official standard, and the colour-genetics tools and references that pair well with our own Breeding Outcomes and Compare tools.
A note on these links. Every site below is run by a separate organisation or individual — listing it here is a signpost, not an endorsement, and we can't vouch for its content or accuracy. Official standards books (the APA Standard of Perfection, British Poultry Standards, the Australian Poultry Standards, and the European standards) remain copyrighted works of their associations; the "open" projects reproduce only material that is out of copyright or released under an open licence.

- Open Poultry Standards Australia — a wiki of free, openly-licensed and public-domain poultry standards, compiled from out-of-copyright UK, American and older texts for breeders who lack access to an official standards book.
National standards & breed associations
The peak fancy body in each country — the organisation that maintains or publishes that country's breed standard and oversees its breed clubs.
- Australia Victorian Poultry Fanciers Association — peak body that publishes the Australian Poultry Standards, the standard of perfection used across Australian shows.
- Europe Entente Européenne d'Aviculture et de Cuniculture — the European federation of poultry, pigeon and rabbit breeders, behind the pan-European breed standards.
- France Société Centrale d'Aviculture de France (SCAF) — France's central poultry association, recognised as being of public utility since 1912.
- Germany Bund Deutscher Rassegeflügelzüchter (BDRG) — the national umbrella body for German breed-poultry breeders, and one of the largest in the world.
- Netherlands Kleindier Liefhebbers Nederland (KLN) — the Dutch umbrella organisation for small-livestock and poultry fancier clubs.
- Netherlands Brahma Club Nederland — the Dutch breed club for the Brahma, with colour descriptions and standard details for the breed.
- New Zealand New Zealand Poultry Association Inc. — promotes the breeding and exhibiting of poultry and pigeons in New Zealand.
- United Kingdom Poultry Club of Great Britain — maintains the British Poultry Standards and oversees breed clubs across Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
- United States American Poultry Association (APA) — North America's oldest poultry body (1873) and publisher of the American Standard of Perfection.
- United States American Bantam Association (ABA) — the national body for bantam breeders, publisher of the Bantam Standard.

- United Kingdom Rare Breeds Survival Trust — conservation charity with a watch-list of native UK breeds, including poultry.
- United States The Livestock Conservancy — maintains a conservation priority list for endangered breeds, poultry among them.

- Kippenjungle Chicken Calculator — a long-established online genetics calculator that works a cross through the colour loci; a useful companion to our own Breeding Outcomes tool.

- Berend Beekhuis — chicken colours — a breeder's personal site documenting chicken colour varieties (in Dutch), including less-common colours such as ermine, paint and tulak.
